The Experiment
TopicWill reaction time be affected with different gender and ages?
|
AimTo determine whether gender and age affects reaction time.
|
HypothesisMales will have a faster reaction time and the reaction time for both genders will gradually decrease and age increases.

- A 30 cm ruler was held vertically lined up at 0 cm with the subject’s thumb and forefinger 5 cm apart horizontally.
- The ruler was dropped without warning with the subject attempted to catch the falling ruler as soon as possible.
- Results were recorded from where the top of the thumb.
- This was repeated five times on the same subject to find an average.
- All the above steps were repeated on two males and two females from the age bracket 15-20 and two males and two females from the age bracket 50-55.
- The formula t = sqrt (2s/a) was used on the averaged result to determine each subject’s reaction time.
